  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work with a fellow apprentice doing low end support contract renewals. We email out to the end customer to alert them that their support contract is expiring and ask them if they have receive their renewal quote from the re-seller. As well as this we have a fair bit of apprenticeship work to do.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills since joining this apprenticeship. My presentation skills have increased massively, I used to get very nervous when presenting in front of people but with the help of remit, our apprenticeship provider, I can confidently present and usually get a good response from the audience. Another skill that has improved since beginning this apprenticeship is how I conduct myself when meeting new people and just in and around the office. I've also been able to apply this in everyday life as well.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Since day one I have massively enjoyed the program, from work to meetings. My personal favorite experience is going to the Lake District for the outward bounds course. We learnt how to better apply the HPE values in the workplace whilst doing some really fun activities I never thought I'd do. As well as this it was a great networking opportunity and I met loads of friends for life.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our program is reasonably well structured, although in the beginning it wasn't as clear what we were going to be doing in the long run, as it has gone on it has only got clearer. I think this was due to the fact we were the first sales apprentices here.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get as much support as I need. I am surrounded by people who have a lot more experience in the industry than me and all love to help us out so I have never struggled to find support if I ever need it. I've also made friends with lot's of colleagues so if I need help in a specific area I have them to rely on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When I need it I can always email them for help although we only see them for 2 days a month so it can sometimes be quiet difficult to receive help from them. Although when they are training us it's no hassle at all to get help from them.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Our training is split into two bits, sales and technical training. I would say the technical training doesn't help us an awful lot as it is much broader than our industry. On the other hand, our sales training is extremely helpful as it matches up perfectly with our job and our trainer (Debs) is amazing.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • From what I've seen so far I would say no. I would love to see something like this as I love my sports and think it would be a great opportunity to network and team build. However there are a fair few social events such as team meetings and launches that are always good and great opportunities to network.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Hewlett Packard Enterprise to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would definitely recommend Hewlett Packard Enterprise to anyone thinking of applying or just looking for an apprenticeship in general. They have treated us so well since joining and it's an amazing company to start your career with. The skills I have learnt here will help me for the rest of my career and also in everyday life.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hewlett Packard Enterprise?
  • I would say if you're looking for somewhere to start your career, and have an interest in either IT or sales, then Hewlett Packard Enterprise is the perfect place for you, if you like socializing and building relationships then go for the sales apprenticeship whereas if you are more technical and like to work on the equipment itself, then go for the technical apprenticeship.
