Aircraft mechanic Review

First you have to make sure all correct tools and parts are available. Then you check to see what work needs to be done. Then you carry out work from seat belt check to tyre changes, whatever the aircraft needs. You can only do certain jobs as a apprentice as you dont have qualifications

I have learnt and developed a lot of new skills. One skill for example is my hands on work. As my job is a very manual intense job, a lot of effort has been put into making sure I develop it. Also team building has developed a lot as you need to work together to complete jobs

I enjoy the programme a lot as it is really interesting and every day is a different job. One day you may need to do a lot of interior work while the next day they may need you to do exterior. They can also send abroad which is a nice bonus.

The programme is organised quite well. There are a few times which can be painful as people do not know what they are doing. However overall I would say that it is organised. Structural wise, it is a nice length and swapping departments regularly is good as well to experience different sides of the company.

Support from the eimplyer is adequate. Some time they support you when you need extra help for example, need extra revision but some times when it is inconvenient for the employer, they will not always be there for you. In my opinion, the support varies from who you ask it from but overall is ok

We do get a lot of support from training provider espically towards our NVQ as the assessor will see you anytime even on night shifts. This is nice of him and he always help in anyway he can even if it not nvq related but using his own experience or knowledge.

The qualification helps me perform better in my job role as the people around recognise what I have achieved and understand that I can be trusted and know what I am doing. I feel that this qualification is a valuable item in my career as it can be quite difficult to achieve.

There are some extra curricular activities to get involved with. One is charity work for our charity filying start which is quite fun and nice to get involved in. Another is to help out with interviews for new apprentices or work experience as this helps out the company and we understand how the new guys feel.

Fun place to work and everyone here is has a different personality so you get to work with a wide range of people. Another reason is that the work you do is very interesting and it is never the same job day in day out and the benefits of working for a airline is amazing

Be yourself is the number one tip. If you like about who you are they will find out. Make sure you are interested in applying, have good team work skills and never try to talk over anyone else. Learn a little bit about the company as they do ask you what you know about BA
