  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am new to this role so, at the moment my daily tasks involve a lot of shadowing of senior staff and training. My role involves engaging with my colleagues and clients, with the aim of providing technical solutions, which involve, data migration, data visualisations, management of data and other technical issues.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been involved in workshops that focused on developing my communications. I have had the opportunity to develop many skills including, communication, creativity, presentation, PowerShell, PowerBI, Terraform, azure, and various programming skills. I have learned to communicate with people more effectively. I have learned many technical skills and I have become a more technical person.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying the program, Colleagues and senior staff have been welcoming, supportive and helpful. The thought of going into the corporate world was a little daunting but here at HPE the people are lovely, the office is relaxed and I feel part of a team, it is very diverse and I am enjoying the experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When I first started I had a 3-week induction which was enjoyable and it really equipped me and prepared me for the programme. I have not been asked to do anything without being provided with the necessary training. I receive the support I need, I have been allocated a mentor.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Here at HPE, everyone is very supportive and support is provided wherever it is required. Managers are easily accessible, usually, they are in the office if you can easily contact them via email or via Skype. There is an only portal that you can use to contact the HR Team and there is an option to have an instant chat with them. regular meetings are scheduled with my mentor but i can reach out to them whenever it is required.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • So my training provider provides 2, 2x days workshops per module, There is a portal where I can have discussions with fellow students if I need help with something. If feedback is required I can contact tutors via email or the online portal. You are allocated a skills coach who deals with and concerns.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • At the moment I am still fairly new so I haven't yet come in contact with what I have learned through my training provider at my workplace. However, I do believe that eventually, they will come in handy. Especially modules such as my networking module. Which will help when deploying servers and virtual machines.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are many extracurricular activities to get involved in at Hewlett Packard enterprise. Such a Tough Mudder, Volunteering events and first Thursday where you can get free pizza. We recently went on a week-long trip to the lake district and got involved in many activities such as Canoeing, gorge scramble, mounting climbing, etc.

  • Yes, I would recommend Hewlett Packard Enterprise as it is a respected multinational company. I would also recommend HPE because they care about their employees, there are so many opportunities to progress in your career, they provide the support that is required, the people are lovely and the company is diverse.   • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hewlett Packard Enterprise?
  • The application is pretty straightforward, during the interviews be yourself and be confident. For the assessment days, do a lot of research on the company and the topics you want to talk about, believe in yourself and get involved as much as you can and talk to people. The onboarding is straight forward just be as organised as you can.
