  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Shift work shifts begin at different times, we have different locations of where you will be working for that day depending on what tasks you will be doing, it involves things such as check-in, boarding, security and lounges. We work in secured and unsecured areas such as landside and airside.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • My customer service has improved immensely and getting to know how to talk to premium customers in the correct manner. I’ve learn so much about myself and other people as my apprenticeship has gone on. I have learnt new skills and new systems in aviation that benefit me in my future career.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot, it’s given me countless opportunities and allowed me to progress throughout my apprenticeship. I’ve learnt new skills and worked in different departments. I feel lucky to have the experience and apprenticeship I have had. I’m still learning about my myself and the job skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • At the beginning I felt it was unorganised but we got a new manager and everything has settled. We have a dedicated team looking after us and stupors us through our apprenticeship. This helps with offlines and outsource days and we’ve been fortunate to work with the people we have.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We’ve been given opportunities to work in different areas and continue working and learning on the job. We get constant support from both British Airways and from outsource to allow us to learn and achieve the most out of our apprenticeship scheme. Our colleagues have been very surporting also.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We’ve had constant reviews every 3 months with our trainers to ensure we are up to date on all work and have everything ready for our EPAs. We’ve also had outsource training days to explain our coursework before it gets set for us to complete at home. Your around staff that are willing to help also.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Learning skills and security workshops is things we need to know at our job role, this helps us in our everyday job role and allows us to have all the information possible on top of our company’s training. We are lucky to have the qualification for our future.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Some of us get heavily involved in our chiarty Flying Start and help run events to raise money in our own time. We also have Christmas party’s and social events we can optionally attend as well as getting involved with football tournaments and bake sales whilst at work.

  • 9a. Would you recommend British Airways to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend British airways to a friend as things are changing and they are looking for fresh faced hard working staff. With the right networking and hard work you have the potential to move up in the company and get lots of opportunities whilst getting a qualification. It’s a rewarding job.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
  • You have to be prepared to put the hard work in. It’s not an easy job but if your willing to put the work in it’s the most rewarding job. Take every opportunity possible and do it to the best of your ability and try as hard as possible.
