  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves working with client renewals, seeing what needs to be done, and by when. For example, producing reports which goes out to the client, getting renewal terms and producing a spread sheet which is used to create the invoice. It also involved proactive renewal work, so requesting documents from insurers, making sure all files are in the correct place etc.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my existing skills. My communication skills have definitely improved, and I am more confident in my ability to communicate effectively with others. I am also now much better at organisation skills. Having a lot more work load means that you need to stay on top of all deadlines, and having this experience at work has helped

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme. I work with a team who are supportive and are great help whenever I need it. Going to workshops monthly and learning new material is also a benefit as the whole group works together well, along with the teacher who makes understanding the material much easier

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very organised. We were shown the way the apprenticeship is structured at the beginning which I had no problem with. There is a lot of support, with your manager and those at the growth company always available. Having study periods each week also make the learning process easier, as we have prep for our exams

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer. Whenever I have any queries, or problems my manager or whoever I need to go to are always readily available. They are always happy to help us, as they are fully aware that I am new to the company and will obviously need some guidance

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I am happy with the level of support from our training provider. During our workshops, we initially go over any questions we have after the last session before. And as we progress through the learning material we are encouraged to ask questions to make sure we fully understand what is being taught

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It allows us to better understand our role in a more deeper manner. For example, if the cover needed is compulsory for businesses, like employers liability, or motor insurance. Along with the experience we get at work itself it boosts my knowledge of the insurance industry. Once higher qualifications are achieved, I feel that it would only better my performance in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are extra curricular activities that we can get involved in. We have a volunteering day in which we spend the day volunteering at a charity, or something beneficial. We are encouraged to use this day to help out others. There are also professional events run by CII that we are also encouraged to attend

  • 9a. Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great place to work. The people who work there are really helpful and are always ready to give you guidance. Every day there is something new to do and there is never a feeling of a constant repetition of tasks to complete. The company is great and I am happy to work for them

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
  • Make sure to do research on Willis Towers Watson, and know exactly what the business does, and especially do research on the sector which you are applying for. By doing this you should have an idea of what the department consists of, which you should have a feel of if this is what you would like to be doing.
