  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day i speak to customers, helping them out with their daily banking needs but also any complex queries that they may have. This can be either me fixing any issues or actioning things on their accounts at first point of contact or by passing it to another team do deal with it for them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have now developed my customer service skills a lot further while working with RBS this has come off the back of the academy training at the start but also speaking to customers on a day to day basis. I have also gained more development in data analysis while doing callbacks for feedback in my team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme to a certain degree it took a long time to get started as i waited months to actually get sup up on the VLE so could not do anything. Now it is quite a lonely experience but I am managing to keep up with the workload.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As stated in the previous question, it took around five months to actually get set up on the system to be able to start on the work. Now i have been able to get set up the programme seems to be well organised in terms of deadlines and meetings can be flexible.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive good amounts of support from RBS, This support mainly comes from my team leader, deputy team leader, other team leaders and employees that have or are currently doing the apprenticeship. This support helps me to continue with the work as we are able to help each other to complete our workbooks.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive ample support from my training provider (BPP). I have not had to ask for any help so far with the workbooks etc i have been completing but in terms of re-arranging meetings, face to face reviews and telephone reviews they have been very flexible which has been great,

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Currently with the workbooks that I am completing they are not helping me with my current role apart from helping me with understanding my contract and health and safety around the workplace. These have helped me to understand more about my payslip etc and help other colleagues with some questions they may have.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Currently i am not aware of any extra curricular activities to get involved in but going forward I will have a look to see if there are any activities that could go into this category. I shall do this by asking around other colleagues and team leaders if they know of anything.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think that RBS is a great business that helps entry level professionals gain a lot of good experience and skills to progress in the working world. Having a company as highly regarded as RBS is very good to have on a CV and paired with the skills you enhance they are very good to be a part of.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • I would give people who are applying to RBS the advice of being open to change, ready for a challenge and make sure they have brushed up on their computer knowledge as being able to operate a computer quickly and efficiently is very helpful for the current role that i am in.
