  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Work in a fast-paced call center environment to listen to inbound retention calls to existing customers who have recently obtained and/or upgraded services on their account. Most important in the telecom sales job description is patience and attention to customer satisfaction. I deal with looking at customers account due to billing, price and if they have any problems.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learnt new skills about how use a computer and the two different systems we use to be able to get in contact with the customer. Also learnt how to answer the phone in a polite manner and how to deal with rude and angry customers. Also how to do the role correctly by listening in to other peoples calls.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am on because I have never had a job role like this before, its something new and I will be able to get another job like this if need one because I will have to the nvq level 2 to help me get further in the working world. Also we do get time to complete the work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is really organised as we do have meetings every month and they tell us how well we are preforming in the role and in our work. We are always getting the help that we need as they are always there if we need help we can call them and send them emails.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get lot of support from my employer as they are always checking up on me and always willing to help me out when im unsure what to do. Always have meetings on how im doing at the job and if I need any more help and time to improve

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I do get a lot of support as they are always there, always able to help as they answer all my emails and calls I make to get help with the work load. They are very understanding and always there to help me. The meets we have are really good as well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • We have meetings every month and we go though what the stats are and what needs submitting and what will need submitting next month, also we get a roadmap of where we need to be at certain times. Also we have a cpd workbook what we can write down what we learnt and we can look back on it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • They are a lot of extra things to do at work. they have football matches and a lot of games to play in the breakout room. apart from that there isn't a lot apart from team nights out what are really good as we get to know each other on the team abit more.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a really good company to work for, get treated with respect, everyone is really friendly. Im really happy working here, the team manager is so kind and everyone listens to what I have to say and no one shoots you down and starts saying you wrong, you opinions is heard.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
  • I would say just be yourself, don't put on a front, no one will judge you. Make sure that you are confident and come out of your shell and don't try and be someone you aren't because this would be big problems as you can come across as fake and this will make you unliked.
