  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in the Information risk management team. I am helping to develop and carry out processes to support the creation and maintenance of an information asset register. I also work with the engagement to handle general queries from the wider business.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned through training courses provided by both my employer and by my training provider. I have also learned how to use and manage new systems and how to help users with queries.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my work and learning about Information Security. My team are good to work with and I have meaningful tasks to perform.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There was a long delay in the course getting started from the training provider's end once I had started at my job. Information about training was slow to come and contradictory. They now appear to have acknowledged the problems and taken the issue in hand. Training is not always that well targeted to the syllabus but this is in part due to the accreditor (BCS) providing limited information.

  • My employer is very supportive and responds well when issues are raised

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Contact from the training provider was initially poor but has improved greatly and they now provide a good level of guidance. Hopefully this will last.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am learning a lot, gaining a lot of experience and the opportunity to gain valuable qualifications thanks to my employer and so I feel that I am benefitting greatly from my apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The BBC has a large programme of activities for staff to get involved in.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The BBC places a high premium on the well being of staff and my team is keep to develop people and see them progress.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BBC?
  • The BBC is looking for people who believe strongly in the value of the work that the BBC does and understand the BBC's aims.
