Trainee site/construction Manager Review

So basically my role as a trainee site manager is to manage the site and help out other fully qualified site managers and other people around the office. the first thing I would do is an induction for new people who come to site, I would then do a SHE 5 document which involves me going onto site and doing checks. My daily work differs as I could be given different tasks to do.

Yes, I have learnt many new skills as well as developing skills that I already have. For example socialising and speaking to other people I now find much easier, interacting with people. Also I have learnt how to deal with issues on site if they ever get out of hand.

I enjoy coming into work as I learn many different things that benefit and help me understand more about how the construction system works. Although it is long hours, as I am busy doing tasks it goes quite quick. However some times the days can really drag a lot, but it is still good.

My programme is well organised and well structured which helps me learn a lot. I do think that there should be more places; websites, book, ect, where I could look to help me do some of the college assignments as they are not always in detail and the information you need is not always there.

To be honest not a lot of support as at my employers place of work, everyone is always very busy . But I do not mind this as I would rather do it on my own as I would learn more and learn better. If I do need help they would defiantly help me.

to be honest sometimes I receive a lot but sometimes I do not receive anything, it is very inconsistent, some weeks I would receive a lot of support but some weeks I would receive very little. The support given though is good and does help me and other people work.

I think It helps a lot. Although I learn a lot being at work and going onto site talking to different workers, it is good to be at college learning stuff on paper and computer instead of always being practical. Its a good balance and does benefit me getting my qualification a lot.

No there is none that I know of , none that anyone has told me about, but to be honest I wouldn't as I do not have any spare time as work and college I get home late enough already and It does not really interest me that much to be honest.

It is a good thing to get into as it will benefit your life and your future if you want to get into anything else involving construction, also it is quite interesting to learn as many different things could happen out on site and you get to meet different people.

Always ask questions as people like that and it shows your interested and plus you could learn something new literally everyday. Also construction jobs normally tend to have long hours so you would have to be ready to do 10 or 11 hours a day plus commuting from home to work.
