  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Complete prototype vehicle testing on development cars. Testing the cooling systems for sign off and CAE validation in order to prove out vehicle capability in hot and cold markets. Overseas test work doing in market testing. Developing cooling rigs to aid in signing off vehicle systems, designing building and testing the rigs.

  • Vehicle knowledge, test and development processes. Engineering knowledge and problem solving

  • Really enjoy the program, job role is a big bonus alongside the education program we are following

  • Structure has been good, issues are mainly found around the initial two years where the college training provider and company had issues aligning priorities.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Lots of support available if requested or needed, regular reviews allow people to be up to date with what is happening with you and how you are progressing through the program

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Support is always available from tutor, extra sessions are available on request, guidance and well being support is always provided when needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Qualification develops the basic underpinning knowledge of engineering systems, allows for us to apply fundamentals in the work place to further understand the problems we face in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, large social network of apprentices that organize different events and work colleagues that organize things such as football tournaments.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Good company to work for, lots of additional benefits. The auto industry is going through large technological changes and working for the company allows for you to be on the forefront of this assisting in real engineering work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • Have an enthusiasm for engineering and problem solving, helps to be interested in cars but importantly you need to be willing to learn
