  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • on the Supply chain apprenticeship, you have the opportunity to move to 3 different job roles within supply chain in Nestle over 3 years. Currently I am in a supply planning role for one of Nestle's many brands, Purina. Day to day I work with various stake holders to mitigate any risks of an Out of Stock period of our Distribution center.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt a lot of new excel skills as well as understanding a whole new system called SAP that i now feel confident using. There is a massive focus on people skills in Nestle which has really helped me develop a better understand about myself and the people I work with and has evidently shown better colaboration in the company.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe so far the programme has been well structured and organised and so many opportunities have been thought of to include in the apprenticeship. If you feel however that you are not on the right placement or feel you need to be in a different role to better your overall understanding the academy are always willing to understand and help.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have a week of college every couple of months to disscuss the topic and the tutor I had at college could not have been more supportive during the week and when back at work. We have pleanty of time to complete the assignments and many colleagues at work are willing to help explain how the theory of supply chain is shown within Nestle to help towards assignments

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps give a general understanding of the theory of supply chain and a big part of the training provider's curriculum, is to relate back to the workplace. This is enforced as part of the qulification throught discussions and assignments, whilst also helping understand a lot about the supply chain in Nestle.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Nestle to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Not only has this apprenticeship offered me the opportunity to better my understanding of supply chain but I am able to gain a qualification paid for by Nestle too. If you wish to get a better understanding of the business more generally and gain a degree there is the CMDA scheme or if you want to know more about engineering, manufacturing, finance or the operations of a factory there are apprenticeships for all of them. Even once you have finished the apprenticeship Nestle will encourage and support you if you want to have a career in a different part of the business. They have offered so much support to help with my home life that was beyond what I ever imagined - would thoroughly recomend !

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Nestle?
  • check out their full range of apprenticeships and do not feel presured to do the degree aprenticeship! do what suits your style of learning, Nestle understands everyone learns differently, they support this and will not treat you any differently if you have or havent got a degree. All the amazing oportunities are still offered to you its what you take from them that matters!
