  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working in Credit Control involves high volumes of communication with a wide range of corporate customers who we have invoiced for the month. Building good relationships with the customers is key. I have a responsibility to ensure that all my customers’ payments are received on time. I am responsible for tracking customer payments and then liaising with the internal Payment Services Department to assist in accurate payment allocation.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have gained phone etiquette experience which has made me confident in my role as it is primarily based on the phones. I have also been able to develop my customer service skills as this is something I have been working in since I was 16. I was able to transfer and develop my skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoyed my programme, it was set out with good time scales. I was not pressured to perform, I was supported throughout the process both by my employer and my trainer provider. as well as getting a qualification from the programme, I gained a full time job which I enjoy!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme was well organised and run. this was due to having seeing my trainer regularly, having meetings and checking up on me to ensure my work was completed for the deadline. there was structure, I know what was required of me by what time and that is what made me finish the programme on time!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer allowed me to complete my work how I wanted to which was very helpful as it allowed me to manage my own work how I desired. I was provided with set times to complete work and was kept a track on just in case I got behind. My employer were very OK with apprenticeship events, meetings or anything else.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received a good amount of support, I was not under supported and was not overbred with support. I had 121's with my trainer who guided me in where I was failing and where I was doing well. I was also able to contact my trainer at any given time, whether that was work hours or outside, work issue or personal. my trainer really cared for both me as a human and my work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has helped me understand my role and what is required of me to do within my role. My training provider has taught be the ground work and with that I can put it in to use with my employer. it has given me a head start to the role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes, I assist in our monthly sometimes quarterly site events which entail rewards and recognition with our site and how we have performed. I also have meetings with senior managers when on site and discuss any concerns or changes that may have arisen from my team. I also run meetings with my team in regards to care and wellbeing.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • BT is a good place to work, it has a nice office an kitchen area. people are friendly and caring and always willing to help you with any situation, if they cant help, someone somewhere will know! it is a great starting place for a career in finance as it is a huge company, there is places to go and grow!


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • its a fast past environment so if you can keep up its worth it! it is an environment where no day is the same, different customers, different issues and different resolutions! there are a wide range of people you can relate to and learn from. everyday is a learning day and you really do learn something new.
