  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as an apprentice is to learn different techniques and job rolls. My job role is maintenance which requires me to be able to inspect and fix any equipment that can become faulty or break. Preventative maintenance for a a big part and as part of my training we use different tools and techniques

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed multiple new skill under the apprenticeship so far and I can use the skills in day to day life. Some of the main skill learned are, time keeping, logical testing, working in sequence, working in groups or pairs, verbal skills and an improved understanding of how a business works.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme a lot as it involves many different types of engineering. I have always been interested in engineering and to progress the way I am is great. I enjoy the mechanical maintenance activities and the electrical side of thing because it engages your brain and helps you understand practical ways to fault find

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well organised and I am happy with it. The sections are well categorised and the way it is ran is great. One issue I could say is that there needs to be more interaction from the company to ensure that your progressing the way then want you to

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel like I receive a lot of support as an apprentice and the employer looks after us well. We are cared for as a valid member of the company and I feel valued. The employer makes an effort to ensure the apprentice is doing well and they are working to a good standard

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We work with EEF and we have regular reviews to see how well your doing on the course and to make sure your behaviour is safe and your progress it to a high standard. The training provider is great with support too and if it’s needed you can go to them and they’ll help

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel it helps as the qualification gives you a greater understanding to the profession and helps you appreciate the work required better and to what standard the work needs to be completed to. The qualification also makes you more competent and confident when working within the factory and under pressure

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, Jaguar Land Rover provide something called Employee Learning Scheme. The Employee Learning Scheme helps employees develop a new skill or try new activities to better themselves and help grow their confidence. These activities are partially paid for by the company and there are a huge variety of different courses available

  • Yes

  • They’re a great company to work in terms of the work force, the respect employees get and the benefits. Jaguar Land Rover promote progression and will always help you to better yourself if your willing to do so. It’s a great company that any individual can be successful in


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • Try and get as much experience and knowledge in your chosen field when applying and always show a readiness to learn and progress as they’re great qualities that the company look for. Research about the company and gain as much knowledge as possible and if you get to the interview stage then be yourself
