  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a electrical engineer apprentice. I am learning of a electrical commissioning engineer. my day to roles at the moment is to check electrical defects around are new site we have built for welsh water. there are daily briefing on what is happening on site today and i will get involved with what ever needs doing.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been learning a lot about electrical installation and how to test and fit electrical equipment. I have also been learning about the mechanical aspect of engineer from other staff. I have already used the electrical skills I have used to fit electricity into my garage for sockets and lights.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy learning and finding out how are sites all links together. learning about how different equipment comes together and how they link up in intriguing. Every day is a different task I could be learning how to use online systems to get correct information for electrical schematic drawings. or I am out on site helping remove equipment which is faulty.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well organised and structured very well. I understand what work needs to be completed for my college and where to e the information I need for completion. when I am at work there is always work for me to get on and do. they have trust in the skills I am using to get on with my job.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive 100% support with any aspect of work I need help with, every one is very helpful. the staff are very friendly and often have a chat with me on how my course is doing and what new skills I am learning. They often help me with different aspects of my course.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • when at college I work on the units for the course and the tutors have information to complete the tasks. They easily help me find information I need for the unit. the teachers help me with any question I have a show me how to do thing that little bit better.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am learning to be a electrical engineer. The units I am doing give me the understanding about electrical engineering. I feel like I am learning a lot f electrical engineering. With the electrical engineering qualification I know I have the correct skills and knowledge to complete any tasks of the future.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there are always social activities to get involved in, no one is left out. there is a team building day coming up, which involves go karting. every couple of months staff will send around a em9ial to ask any one to get involved in a activity the company is planning or themselves individually.

  • Yes

  • I feel the company is a very good company to get involved in. If you are able to get a job with JN Bentley you will be very happy with them. since being with the company i am happy with everything the company does so far and there are lot of perks.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JN Bentley?
  • Be yourself, have confidence in yourself and JNB will see the potential you will have in the company. The staff are very friendly and will not judge you and give you a fair chance to show the skills you have. defiantly show you strengths you have and be confident in the person you are.
