  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • The job role is an audit associate. You would work alongside other audit team members and complete audit tasks. This would include interacting with the client and asking them for documents and deliverables in order to complete your work. A lot of the time it will also include sitting with your senior and learning how to complete certain tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my audit knowledge whilst on the programme as previous to the programme I would have been unsure as to how to complete an audit. As well as this my communication skills have improved through talking to the client and the team internal of PwC helping to become more efficient.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the programme, the job isnt the most fun job however the working atmosphere and teams help to make the job a little more enjoyable. The company culture allows for socials to happen fairly regularly which helps to make the job more enjoyable if you partake in the socials.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • THe programme is well organised, spending 6 months at university and 3 months on placement each year runs seamlessly. Having one exam after the placement and 5 in the summer really helps as more than one exam after placement would not be effective. Support is easily accessible when at university or on placement.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The amount of support from the employer depends on how much support the individual wants/needs. If you need support it is available to you through your audit team, your people manager or generally anybody in the office you are in. You regularly get emails relating to what your next steps are.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • You receive a lot of support from the University. All the relevant members of staff brief you fully on the next steps and what is likely to happen in the future. If you need further assistance they are there to help with anything job or course related, especially the staff running the programme.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Without the education from the university, it would be very hard to perform the job role whilst on placement. The teaching of Financial accounting and assurance are vital to the job role. However, working the job as part of the programme is more beneficial as you get to learn how the job is actually performed.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The opportunities are available, however it is daunting only being at the company for 3 months at a time as you never really feel part of the social groups. However if you do partake in the extra-curricular activities such as sporting events or monthly socials they are well organised and of a good standard.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They are one of the best names to have on your CV so starting at PwC is hugely beneficial to your future. They are also one of the best graduate employers and help to develop you in your role. The programme is also to a high standard and a great foundation for you to build on in the future.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Be confident in yourself and show integrity. On the assessment day, showing good management and delegation skills is important. There are maths and english tests, an interview and a group assessment. Mixing with your peers on the assessment day is key to get to know them so that the group exercise becomes more natural.
