  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role varies, as I am on a rotation basis. However, currently I will arrive at work, check my emails and begin to sort through my daily tasks. I keep a list of these and work through them as well as any other outstanding work there is to be done. I am currently doing Security Risk assessments, and I learning from those around me by shadowing and mentoring. I've found this helpful as I don't feel as overwhelmed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learned from soft skills, the way I talk to people and how that can influence the positive working relationships that are important in the workplace, I've learnt how to better manage my time and ensure that I am meeting deadlines, and I have learned various new skills relating to security from my first rotation doing security incidents, managing and incident and working with more senior members of the security teams, and now working on risk assessments and ensuring they are iso27001 compliant.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my program as this is a great place to work and I have made lots of friends here. The program teaches relevant courses to my day job and I feel that they both compliment each other. I enjoy being able to work with people who have been working at the company for years and draw from their experience to help me progress further.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is well structured and the courses only last for a week. It has been difficult to balance work/apprenticeship/life at times but it is manageable, and the company is really supportive of us while we are doing our apprenticeship work, either inside or outside of the work environment.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is very supportive and the people around me are always ready to help. My Line Manager is always open to questions and I feel comfortable asking anyone for help with work I don't completely understand. I am afforded any help needed with my work and time given for me to complete these tasks.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider provides me with lots of help and guidance when working on my portfolio and other aspects. I get support either remotely or in person and this enables me to ask any questions that I need solving from QA, or for her to offer support with a course I am going on

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifications I am doing help me perform better as I am acquiring more specialized knowledge that will make me a better security consultant and improve my competency within the job role. This will make sure that I am more confident in the work that I am doing going forward.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of extra curricular activities to do at Telford, including GAP events for new graduates and apprentices. These have been especially useful as they provide a time away from work to connect with co workers. I think that this is great as you can discuss the course and any problems encountered

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great place to work with a fun, friendly environment. Everyone is supportive and strives for you to do your best within the workplace. Everyone works together on projects and there is a friendly sociable atmosphere where there is little disconnect between upper management and lower grades of staff


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • To be yourself and trust in your current knowledge and personality. I think that being genuine and hard working is important as these are traits that will make people more likely to spend time teaching you extra things you may have missed out on. An appetite to learn shows that you are motivated which I believe goes a long way in the selection process
