  • I'm a Business Analyst. This includes 1) requirements gathering, 2) writing user stories, 3) mapping as is business processes, 4) mapping to be business processes 5) participating in the backlog, 6) working through active sprints. I use Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Slack, Jira, and Confluence to support my work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learnt and developed a number of skills during my apprenticeship and whilst at work. This includes 1) requirements engineering, 2) elicitation techniques, 3) business process modelling, 4) financial analysis, 5) organisational and people analysis, 6) quantitative vs qualitative analysis, 7) using jira, 8) using confluence, 9) using Slack

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my work programme in the following contexts 1) I am learning about business analysis in a very structured way 2) I'm part of a project team and business analysis team that focuses on business analyst work 3) My expectations regarding business analysis are fully met and I am enjoying it!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • 1) Induction was good and clear 2) Has been very good although the environment has been difficult as the class rooms are too warm, which makes it difficult for me to focus at times. 3) I'm getting good opportunity to study 4) I'm getting good support from my skills coach although he is (by his own admission) stretched thin.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • 1) I receive good support from my manager in that I'm allowed time to do my apprenticeship as well doing actual business apprenticeship work. 2) My HR team have been supportive and check in on me from time-to-time. 3) I don't have a mentor, but that's not a problem for me

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • 1) The tutors, thus far, have been very good, knowledgeable and supportive. 2) Accessibility of support is okay but I do have the QA canvas a little difficult and a little confusing to follow. 3) I receive lots of support when I encounter a problem. 4) Overall, I am enjoying my experience!

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • 1) The training and learning I'm doing is very relevant and helpful to the role I'm performing. 2) Whilst academic it is very helpful on a practical level. 3) I definitely feel that I know a lot more with my qualification than I would without it formal training.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are typical social activities such as going, with a few (or many) colleagues for a drink after work. Or to lunch. And occasionally for dinner. This will typically be in near to where I work, which is in central London. This is my typical involvement in of extra-curricular activities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Post Office to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Post Office, has 1) a good and flexible working environment 2) a fair reward package covering salary, pension, holidays and medical cover 3) The Post Office has a very clear social purpose of providing essential services to local communities. This is important to me and would need to be important to anyone joining this organisation.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Post Office?
  • 1) Read up on Post Office history (there is a lot of it to read). 2) Get to understand as much about the products and services that Post Office provides through it's branch network and online. 3) Get to understand that Post Office is part of government, which has an impact on our behaviours (commercial with a social purpose)
