  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Quality Assurance analyst. What this means is that I ensure the quality of a software product meets the requirements provided by the client. I do this by coming up with scenarios in which the product will be used and testing it to ensure it works as expected. If there are defects, then I raise a ticket and liaise with developers to get it fixed.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have gained skills. One of the main skills I have gained is attention to detail as that is key within this role. Also, I have improved my problem solving skills as well as my communication skills as I need to discuss matters with other members within the team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it a fair bit. My programme is good as it provides a free degree and a study day each week during term time. That is helpful to do assignments and catch up on revision. I enjoy it a decent amount. I wouldn't say its amazing but its manageable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme looks very organised and structured. Of course, it has its flaws but nothing majorly concerning. Sometimes there are hiccups where we do not get course information and timetable until very late which is annoying as that often means we cannot do any preparation for the course. It is organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a decent amount of support from my employer. If I need help, I can always ask.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Once again, I receive a decent amount of support from my employer. If I need help, I can always ask. It is annoying when some tutors do not reply to emails because I can have an important question which I need an answer to before the assignment deadline but sometimes I do not receive a response until after.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • In all honesty, I do not think the qualification helps me perform better in my role. I am a Quality Assurance analyst and the degree that I am undertaking has nothing to do with my role ... yet. In the next stage of the degree, there is a module which will relate to my role.
