1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role includes working on client site and remotely as part of the dev team to help build the system to the clients requirements. I work with the client and members of Capgemini everyday. I have responsibilities to complete the tasks assigned to me and help support team members where possible.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, since starting the program I have learned many skills both personal and technical. I have been able to go on many training courses to improve my inter-personal skills and have been given many opportunities to improve my technical skill set. I have also been able to gain certifications in these technologies.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed the programme very much so far, I have been given many learning opportunities and have had the chance to gain valuable skills I would not have gained if I was to take another path. I enjoy collaborating with other apprentices on the programme and agree with the companys core values

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well structured, since joining I could tell there was a clear path beginning with induction and then going into training. There is lots of support available from the university and from senior members I work with along with other apprentices on the programme. I am gaining the skills and experience I need.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot of support is available within the company. I receive support on project when I need it and always feel like I can ask questions if I get stuck on something. The people I work with like to help me develop and encourage/support me to fulfill my objectives

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Aston university provide a lot of support online. Sometimes it can be a bit more difficult to understand some concepts through distance learning and balancing with work, but the lecturers are always happy to answer any questions and support on any issues you may face. Support is really easy to get through emailing lecturers or through the blackboard system.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

A lot of what I learn through my qualification has helped me to better understand the industry I am working in. It doesn't necessarily help me directly with my work, but helps me to better understand the roles of others around me and how technology can be utilized to fix problems.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, the business unit I work in provides lots of events to attends and encourages the apprentice and graduate community to set up these events ourselves. There are many differnt event to go to depending on what you like and they often allow votes on what the majority would like to see in the future.

9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?

9b. Why?

Capgemini allow people who may not even have any coding/technical knowledge to get into the industry and start learning from scratch, building valuable skills that are not attainable through the standard university route. You will gain a degree and work experience at the same time, as well as earning a fair salary.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?

Have a look at Capgeminis core values and see if they align with what you believe in. It is just as important that the company matches your believes if you are going to work there. Dont be afraid to apply if you have no experience in tech or consulting, Capgemini seem to base their recruitment on the values others uphold rather than their technical ability at a junior level.
