  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role includes a lot of different areas of tax. My daily work involves liaising with clients regarding any personal, corporate or partnership tax questions they may have. Also, I have monthly deadlines for non-UK tax aspects which must be dealt with urgently I therefore spend magnitudes of times time preparing information ready for all my deadlines.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • During my time, I have developed a wide range of skills, specifically my excel skills. My role has expanded to include various excel spreadsheet tasks and the development of my excel macro vba knowledge too. This expansive vba knowledge has led to me streamlining our data. This was a self taught skill which has slowly become a speciality.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme has allowed me the chance to develop my technical skills alongside my work, specifically within personal tax seeing as this is the majority of my role - especially in January. My studies have improved my client service as I am able to take calls and provide answers to clients without the need to push back due to areas of unknown knowledge.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As mentioned on the previous question. We have an internal team representative who deals with our training provider on our behalf. I can therefore confirm that the support I have from my team and specifically this representative has been fantastic. As the majority of my team have taken the same course, they are totally understanding of study commitments.
