  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an analyst, I work on different tax consulting projects implementing technology. This involves client workshops, building the technology and training the client tot use the technology. I also work on projects which focus on global compliance, I help to provide the client with increased visibility on tax compliance filings across the globe.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt lots of new skills. Although I have only been here 8 months I think I will develop a lot over the next 3 years. Various coding programs are used all the time in the work I do - VBA, SQL, Alteryx. The job also helps you develop soft skills such as presenting to clients.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • There are lots of perk to the program. Studying for the exams (ACA and CTA qualifications) make you feel like you're developing your knowledge and you career/CV. Also working in such a big company means there are lots of benefits such as working from home, travelling and a huge variety of clients.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I think it is very well organised. On my first day I was given a timetable for my exams over the next 16 months. Also you're given lots of opportunity to meet team members, introduce yourself and put your name forward for helping on projects. The second/third/fourth year analysts are very helpful when you have questions.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • THere is lots of support if you look for it. It's difficult in a large organisation as there miht be a nominated person to help but you wont necessarily feel comfortable if you dont know them. But everyone is super friendly and the intranet has lots of guidance and help pages.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Some support. I havn't had to use it yet so I',m not too sure about this. But in college the contact details of your tutor are always given out and you're assigned a one-on-one tutor after a few months for extra help and support through the exams.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think the ACA definitely helps to improve my business awareness and accounting knowledge. I wouldn't say it directly links into my work as I mostly do technology implementations but it's definitely improved my understanding in business conversations. I would also say that it is really handy to keep the study books for refernce.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I think so - I know, running netball and hockey clubs exist but I| thnk it's up to you to seek them out. There's not much done in terms of promoting these extra curricular activities but there definitely there if you look for it which is great for new starteers.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because everyone is so friendly and approachable. It's a good working environment to be a part of. Also there's lots of opportunities for example you can travel, work from home, go and work on secondments, meet lots of new people, improve your career prospects, network, make friendse tc.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • I would say to be yourself in the interview - don't be a robot. It's good to be honest and talk about things you're passionate about, also ask lots of questions - even if it's just about the interviewers personal career path. Be enthusiastic and be prepared ot get stuck in.
