  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • So on a day to day basis, I am currently learning a programming language in my first rotation called Python. There is lots of help available and everyone is extremely friendly. I have also been learning the automation of system that are used here on a day to day basis.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills such as coding basics as its my first year. I have learnt a lot about systems within BT and how they are used to help BT maintain there services to the highest standard. I am currently studying a degree which entails learning for my exams in the summer.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Yeah I enjoy working with my team and we have a meeting every morning if there is any problems and how yesterday went what we have done and what we are doing today gaining any advice. I really enjoy the University course as the first year mainly maths base and that's my most enthusiastic subject.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Yeah it really depends on your roll there are so many different areas and if you don't take interested in your first rotation then there is lots of opportunity to change and work some where else in the company your opportunities are endless here at BT, from being a programmer to being tester.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Yeah I receive a lot of support from the people around me, and the managers are easily approachable if needed. You will be given a line manager who will do regular checks on you and they will see how you are getting on and if you are enjoying your learning etc.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Well we have access to all of the lecture material including mock tests and we have 1 day a week of lectures first year then second year 2 days a week. You are also able email the lectures they are always happy to help if needed. You are able to have access to all University resources as well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Well you are learning about networks which will help you understand what a network is that's the big question. I can happily say I understand what one is now. But a lot of things you will learn when you work but you will defiantly cross over University as you are training to be a network engineer.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yeah there is a sports day every year, as well as a chance to climb the 2 two peaks, there is an apprentice goals team, there are Tennis courts and a football pitch on sight which you are able to go on when ever you'd like to and there various activities arranged throughout the year

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Its an amazing company and great career prospects and they push you to achieve your best ability with the chance to move around the company and using your skills to potentially manage people in the future. The education part made my decision being able to work and still get a full degree.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Be your self, try not to feel under pressure cause its hard not to I understand that and make sure you have a rough idea what you are going to say. Make sure it is visible how you are going to benefit BT as a whole and be confident when in the interview keep your cool.
