  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have completed my BTEC at Stoke college, the tutors there were very supportive and took their time to ensure everyone understood the course material. I also have my SVQ coursework, I have a class every 2 weeks with my coach to go through what I have done and what's next and am also able to attend other classes with him if I need extra support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Some of the content has been a bit difficult to relate to my role. However, I have completed several case studies to show as evidence of my work. Putting these tasks in writing has helped with my understanding and I have them saved so that I can use them as instruction when I am out on my own.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I along with a group of other apprentices have created an apprentice network. The roles for the team were advertised to the apprentice community, I then applied and interviewed for my position. The network is specifically for enterprise engineering apprentices and is being built from scratch. Although we have a team of managers on hand to help, we have been allowed the freedom to create the network ourselves.

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The career opportunities are endless in BT. There are so many sectors and roles and apprentices are encouraged to move on through the company and pursue other areas of interest. There are also various tasks set to apprentices to help encourage and hone other skills and hard work is appreciated and rewarded.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • To be yourself. BT as a whole tends to look for employees based on their character rather than their experiences. Personality is more important than knowledge. The job itself can be learned, it is important to BT that the person can engage with their customers and deliver an excellent service.
