1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

8/10

My role entails working with live networks across the whole UK. We deal with all the customers on a day to day basis, upgrading and maintaining the network making sure it stays healthy and consistent to try and make sure we give the best service to the people subscribed to a BT network.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

8/10

Yes. I have learnt many skills throughout the last 7 or so months since starting here. I have learnt how to deal with engineers and help them perform a job that I have tasked out. I have dealt with managing alarms on the live equipment as well as basic computer network knowledge

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

8/10

I think id say that I am enjoying the programme very much. It's helped me learn whilst also earning money, helping me become more independent over the past 7 months. It helps me expand my knowledge in a lot of broad areas which I had no knowledge on previously, hence an enjoyable time

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

9/10

For the most part, id say that the programme is very well structured. There is a lot of consistency within our learning, meaning they're doing things that they know will work. This is incredibly beneficial to us apprentices, who rely on these people organising a lot of stuff for us.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

8/10

I receive an amazing amount of support from my employer. The fact I get paid above a minimum wage is already a positive coming from this apprenticeship. As well as this, a free degree to help us develop our networking knowledge is also a massive support through the company itself.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

9/10

There are options to have older people mentor me through my uni work, which is a great success, with their knowledge combined, they all make a great teaching team. Also, our employer gives us X amount of study days, meaning we have time to study by ourselves every week inside our working hours.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

9/10

The qualification i'm receiving is a degree in network engineering. This means that it directly relates to my job role. The reason this helps me is because I am getting contextual knowledge towards my job, helping me understand why im doing what im doing a lot better than before.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

9/10

There are a lot of opportunities to help us widen our personal network by doing things like, volunteering, an annual sports day and many other things. As well as this, we can do extra qualifications with companies like CCNA. This is widely approved by BT, and widely accredited by network engineers in general.

9a. Would you recommend BT to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

Because, overall, I think that the people that work here are great to help support apprentices get through their apprenticeship and help them become the best worker you can be. The degree is an amazing bonus to an already really good, competitive wave that we earn throughout our degree. So yes, I would reccomend

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?

Make sure that you have background knowledge of the company! Or even try and get some work experience prior to starting here. During the interviews, don't be shy and just be yourself. BT aren't looking for professionals in the field straight away, but the more you know the better!
