  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During term time, I go to university lectures Monday to Friday. I get my training in the traditional academic way. During term time I also have various company engagement events and have the the opportunity to take part in various recruitment and social events. Then out of term time (summer) have a placement in the company.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my technical skills drastically due to the lectures from the university and the interactive sessions as university. I have also developed my communication skills with the company. I have learnt technical skills that I did not have before I came to university. Also my time management has improved

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my program thoroughly. One reason for this would be I can focus on my studies rather than having to stress about the financial aspect of university. I enjoy the engagement sessions with the company also as they are a nice break from the typical activities of term time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is quite well organised. As it is the first year of the program there were some issues with organisation as the two parties got used to their partnership. However the individual aspects that each party provide are well organised. Sometimes the communication between the training provider and the employer could be better.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive not only financial support from our employer but also personal support. We have a buddy system where each student is allocated a buddy. Even the buddies who are allocated to other students have been supportive to me. The support is of a very high standard from the employer

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The employer gives us the entire term time off to focus on our studies. This is incredible, we could not ask for a better scenario as we do not have work projects during exam time either. We also had meetings with the training provider and the company to check we were coping with the workload

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It allows us to grasp the technical side and then apply it to the real world scenarios. The traditional ways of learning are tried and tested so it is very fortunate that we get to study in this way and still get work experience and funding from the company as well.
