Day to day basis includes going out with my coach on the patch and learning how to complete each types of jobs. And then going to training centres for training and assessments. My role is first call operative so I’m the first person to turn up at a job
I have learnt many new skills through out my apprenticeship, these include pipe work skills, knowing how to cut and solder copper pipe together. Also my knowledge on how to deal with gas escapes both inside and outside. And developed customer communication skills and improved on how to talk to the public
The programme is very enjoyable. Having a good mixture of training weeks away and assessments and then having time on patch going out with my Coach and learning how to do different aspects of jobs. It is a great apprenticeship programme which is well put together and delivered very well
The organise and structure of the programme is well put together. Having a yearly plan and knowing which dates you will be away for training and which dates you will be on patch is good. Managers are in contact letting us know what is expected and at the end of the phone if needed
I receive a lot of support from my employer, and that is through the whole company. I get support fro my coach on a day to day basis whilst on patch. I get support from trainers whilst away at training and my managers through out the apprenticeship. And also mentors support me
Training provider when working towards your qualification support us well. We get the appropriate training whilst away and the training quality is good. As all assessments have been passed due to good delivering of training. The training is of a good standard and they focus on what is needed for the apprenticeship
I feel that In training towards my qualification helps me to perform better in my chosen role as it has provided me with the specific knowledge and skill set to perform within my chosen job role, lead emergency first call operative , and has given me confidence within my job role
Yes there are extra curricular activities to get involved in at my place of work. Theses include charity and fundraising events. Projects in which we go in to the community and help make a difference. Engagements days in which the supervisor takes the engineers out for team building and moral boosting
Yes
From my experience of the apprenticeship scheme over the last two years as a lead emergency first call operative I would definitely recommend Cadent gas to a friend as it is a great apprenticeship and the skills and development within the company are at a high level. The company looks after its employees
Advice would be to others applying to cadent gas is to sell them selves when applying and making them selves stand out as a good candidate and a prospect as working with cadent gives you a job for life and the company has great benefits and a brilliant pension scheme
