  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Understanding the Retail side of the Postmasters business is new to me. Communication skills are called in to play everyday and the way that I deal with potential confrontational situations where there is a negativity towards the buisness. Customer Service skills are key and have to be at the forefront.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • has been challenging to sometimes relate the learnings to the subject matter as the Post Office is a unique business and this has made me and my trainer think outside the box. Fitting everything in has also been a challenge due to the nature of my job and its demands

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Post Office Apprenticeship team are very supportive and encouraging - the issues have been at local level - i.e. Line Manages understanding that although there is work done in own time some can be also taken from my working hours to support the programme - this doesn't happen - better understanding needed at this level

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • If I need to go to my provider he will offer support and to help with the Maths and English side there was help to get me through that part of the programme. I tend to work on my own and then ask for the additional support if I feel that I have missed the point in the topic being studied.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It isnt easy as yet to see how this will support my current role - maybe the Retail side will be a benefit but as the new role is so different to the one prior to April this year - where I managed a team as well as driving business it is difficult to say
