  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role on a day to day basis varies depending on what point in the week it is and even the year. I have one day a week day release to college and I also rotate a placement at work every quarter to get a large overview of the company

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have had many different training now from my 3 years on this 4 year course. I can now use cad software efficiently, and I can work in a workshop effectively. because of the business I work in I also know a lot more about aviation and also mechanical engineering.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my personal experience on the program most of the time. the only downside I can think is the fact that as an apprentice you need to balance working 30 hour weeks with the 22.5 hours of college time to achieve the best out of your time on the program.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the structure is to do varied placements throughout the four years to get an over view of the company and the different types of work that happens here. this works well apart from times when there are placements that are not mechanically based and have no benefit to the individual

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do not believe that I receive that much support. there are good opportunities and varied work, but from day to day I do not believe there is much support from the specific employer. there is support from managers and such, but not the specific employer as the question asks.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • for this, I believe we receive even less support when working towards our qualifications. tutors at the college seek to get people through the door and don't much seem to care how or if it is even affective teaching styles. I have been continuously disappointed with oaklands college for three years.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualifications help you somewhat with my role at this company. there are some important lessons learned, but when it comes to things like maths and science, if they are not being used then that knowledge goes and seems like its just done to get the student out the door

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I get involved in quite a lot of activities outside of work. I am a very sociable person and I enjoy trying new things and making friends. I believe however this is a reflection of my person and not so much the company as there are many people who do not

  • 9a. Would you recommend MBDA to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • there is a financial incentive to do so and it is also a really good place to work and start a career. mbda has a challenging and varied environment and is thrilling more often than not. I have a had a good experience and so will my friend if I refer

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to MBDA?
  • I would show interest in the company and also show interest in the area that you are looking to apply in. also relate this back to a personal project that you have worked on before to be able to show your true nature and desire to work for this company
