  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Supporting monthly financial tasks surrounding closing and reporting activities locally and for consolidated company accounts. Also ad hoc tasks throughout the month such as supporting requirements of other departments who require commercial support. Other monthly tasks involve Cost Centre Controlling, Accounts Payable, Performance Controlling and Analysis of overheads and the factory.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills both personally and professionally. I have personally developed my confidence and self worth through my experiences and through the support of those around me on the apprenticeship programme. Professionally, I have become competent in accounting tasks and also with the use of a variety of software.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am on. There is a great variety of tasks in my role and development opportunities in the wider community at Siemens. Apprentices are provided support to pursue their interests in their studies and job placements which makes the job varied and challenging. As a result I enjoy the programme that Siemens runs.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well. At the start of the apprenticeship you have a detailed induction to all departments. Your progression is already planned on a skeleton level with room for change in line with what you enjoy and want to pursue. Also the study element is well structured however I found it wasn't fully organised when I started so there was a slight bit of work to be done on this but that is the only fault I can pick out on the organisation of the programme.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support both directly and indirectly. My manager and the Apprenticeship manager are regularly checking how I am and are willing to support my endeavours. Also there is a community of apprentices and other managers who are willing to help with anything that an apprentice may require. This makes me feel well supported overall.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • BPP are always in contact via email to check if any additional support is needed with my studies. Also the lecturers make themselves available to be emailed and called with any queries I may have. This helps my studying and how comfortable I feel when studying with BPP. This is better in comparison to previous providers I have studied with.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps my theoretical understanding mostly. This allows me to understand what I am seeing and doing at work on a day to day basis. Also the modules provide information which is totally external to my job, this helps me bring new thinking and ideas into my team which is a benefit to everyone.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Sports e.g. football and netball are ran locally at the site where I work. Also there are national events e.g. a yearly football tournament is ran with all Siemens sites entering a teams. There are also many apprentice events e.g. graduation events and gala dinners for awards.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Aside from the support you are provided and the opportunities available, the culture of Siemens is amazing and makes for a great working environment. The staff foster ownership of their work as if it were their own business and everyone is open to feedback and continuous improvement. This makes every day interesting.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • Show your drive for personal improvement and for being part of the digital revolution. Siemens are keen to develop people and showing you want to develop your skills will make you attractive to Siemens. Also, as part of the digital revolution Siemens are constantly improving their processes. If you show your hunger to be part of this then you will make a great impression.
