  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Most apprentices day-to-day work will be very different as apprentices fill many roles in many different places. Some of my regular activities include managing cloud services and micro-services, scripting and debugging. Due to the nature of my role I do a lot of different things on a day to day basis.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many new skills and adapted many existing skills since joining Capgemini. Not only has my communication improved greatly, but I've learnt a lot about teamwork and improved my coding and problem solving skills greatly. I went from dreading giving presentations before I started, to giving presentations in front of 50+ people from clients and other companies on one of my projects.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is very challenging and takes a LOT of time and effort. This being said, I learn a lot from university studies and enjoy the practical university tasks. I also enjoy learning from others at work and being able to apply the knowledge to what I'm currently doing.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is structured and organised very well. Even from the start of the apprenticeship, I was given a document with all on-campus days over the next 4.5 years. The modules are split up well during this time and university teachers understand that we have day-to-day work and are willing to give out of office hours for any extra time that you need with them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a fair amount of support from Capgemini. Each year, we receive around 22 days of extra study leave which can be taken in order to complete university work. Along side this, team members are generally understanding of the amount of work that degree apprentices have and can be lenient with time when you might need extra.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Even though all training is done online, it is still quite easy to get support from the training provider. For individual module support, you have weekly live online sessions where you can ask any questions that you might have, and are also encouraged to email module teachers with any further questions you may have. They also give set extra hours at least once a week where you can have a one-on-one session with them to go through things you really don't understand. Overall programme support is also good, and you can receive help with this via an email to the programme leader.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well. I apply a fair amount of what I have learnt through university on my day to day role, and I have found that personally it does help me. But, again, this changes from person to person as a different role may not see you using much of your university studies at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I work at a clients office and therefore the only extracurricular activities are organised by colleagues. If I worked at a Capgemini office, however, there would be more activities for me to partake in. My team currently runs a monthly networking session where everyone gets together and learns more about the current technologies we're using, and ones that are related.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • So far, my programme has been a great learning experience for me and I have learnt more than I thought I ever would. Capgemini is a great place with many different opportunities that has worked really well with the way that I have approached work. They are supportive if you want to try something new and are willing to help when needed.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Make sure to be yourself, and remember that Capgemini only knows what you tell them about yourself. Make sure that you tell Capgemini about any key achievements and related experience and how it's benefited you in order to show them what you've already learnt and that you will also use future experiences to learn more.
