  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role changes depending on the project however on my current project I am leading a data cleanse for one of the largest car manufacturers in the world, this involves a lot of client facing interaction, technical support as well as stakeholder management. This role has taught me a lot and I feel as though with Cap I have plenty left to learn.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved in a variety of different areas since joining Capgemini, my overall confidence and professionalism have also improved. I have also learned a variety of different technical skills such as Java, Javascript, SQL, Node.js, Python/Ruby etc. These skills along with a lot of client facing interaction is giving me a variety of different experience that I can apply to different projects.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The main thing I enjoy about Capgemini's degree programme is the type of people that Capgemini employee, they employee a lot of junior talent and every project gives me the opportunity to meet and learn from new people who all have similar mentalities and personalities. Also because of the similar age and attitude they're easy to get along with.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The overall programme is well structured however some of the university modules aren't organised too well and could be improved but this is something to be expected as different tutors are more/less organised. I do however have a clear picture of what my degree entails and the wonderful modules I have to look forward to in my final year!

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have a brilliant manager who is very supportive and if anything does need to be escalated to HR then they are always available and understanding. Some of the leaders of the GAP Programme however weren't helpful at all however when I was having a personal issue and showed no sympathy which I felt was very upsetting.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Different module leaders/tutors offer different levels of support however most of them offer calls available in office hours and try to work around our busy schedules. There are also webinars frequently for each module so that we can ask questions and query things as we don't have the chance to in person.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Initially I didn't think it was too helpful as I wasn't applying it to my role, however since my new project role is more client facing and my degree is more business orientated now, I have put some of my skills into practice and feel as though now it is a lot more beneficial.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a variety of different voluntary initiatives available however none of them are very close to where I'm based in Birmingham or where I'm on a project. We recently had my first team social which was memorable, these are meant to be more frequent and so, I am currently organizing the next social event.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The types of people that Capgemini employee and the opportunity to work your way up through the company is something that I admire after working in a law firm with no progression. However I feel as though a lot of opportunities to prove yourself is down to luck, hence why I am uncertain of my future with Capgemini after my apprenticeship.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Make sure that you are up for travelling everywhere and anywhere when necessary and dont give up! Each project is different and so if you don't find the exact role that you're searching for after the first one, try and try again but make your feelings known from the start on what you want to achieve and what projects you'd like to be on!
