  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently training up with a RPA tools in order to become a more able developer, to be able to assist on client site and fill my job role. Currently, my day-to-day tasks involve online training via tutorials and other online methods of self teaching. Once I have completed training in UiPath, I will be able to work on projects internally and externally with my team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since beginning my apprenticeship, i have received training on Java, Python, Ruby, SQL, HTML and .NET. I had some prior experience with Java and HTML. These skills were aqquired and developed primarily through the first 8 weeks of my apprenticeship, whilst at Aston University, as the course required learning the basics and foundations of a number of langauges, to make it easier to pick up new ones in the future.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the programme very much so far. I have been made aware of the huge amount of opportunities available, in terms of progression and training, which is exciting. My colleagues, managers and other employees around me have been extremely helpful and friendly, making the process of joining the organisation much better. I have also enjoyed the tasks and training I have taken part in too. It is very engaging and open to a number of approaches, making it very flexible.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • So far, the programme has been extremelu well structured. From attending an induction week, through to entering the workplace full time. The structure has allowed for the apprentices, including myself, to pick up a number of languages and skills very quickly, and has given us the foundation for further progress. The organistion has ensured a smooth flow from induction to entering the office.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received an extraordinary amount of support from my employer. The company ethos is reflected through fellow employees who have offered assistance whenever needed. Managers and such have also been extremely helpful, making sure i know that if I have any questions, they are more than willing to assist. There is also a good deal of documentation and links to areas that can help answer many questions an employee may have, meaning, often, i can find the answers to any queries i may have, from spending 5 minutes on the company intranet.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have received a great deal of support from the training provider in regards to working towards our qualifications. Whilst on our Advanced Learning Environment, we received weekly, in-person check in's, to check our progress and check on how we were doing. This gave us opportunities to ask any questions we had and to also request support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The training for my qualification i have received so far has been excellent and i believe it has been crucial in allowing me to begin adapting to my new role. Prior to this apprenticeship, i had very little experience with many of the programming langauges i have been taught so far, yet through the training, it has been very managable to learn. I believe the training has been crucial in allowing me to perfrom better in my role, from assisting the speed in which i can learn, to my confidence in my own ability.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are numerous events that can be attended, that are hosted by the company. Each week, employees receive an email that mentions all the events that are happening at each office/location for the week, and there are also details on how to attend and where to go. There are also less formal events that are organised, such as pub quizes and meals that are social activities, to bring everyone together.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Capgemini offer excellent opportunities for growth and development that I do not believe is matched at a large number of other employers. There is also a positive working environment. I would recommend Capgemini to a friend because i feel they would struggle to find another place of employment where they will receive the same opportunities and benefits.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • If i were to give advice to someone applying (as an apprentice) to Capgemini. I would suggest they try to spend some time familiarising themselves with coding languages such as Java and SQL as these would be very helpful, if they were hired. I would also suggest they read up on the roles available to make sure the career is for them, considering how much opportunity there is to change role within capgemini, so it would help them make the right decision earlier on.
