1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

8/10

Currently as a first year apprentice my role is to complete my BTEC and NVQ qualifications, this means that I have to go to college everyday completing coursework and assignments. My coursework ranges from H&S and business management to hydraulic and pneumatic systems. As well as the assignments there is also K Questions that must be completed to go along with the practicals.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

9/10

I have definitely learned new skills when it comes to the practical tasks we have to complete and this is because I have never had to learn them in as much detail previously. As well as this I have developed my skills when it comes to writing reports and having to justify opinions when completing my coursework

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

9/10

The course I quite enjoyable because there is a constant flow of work and I am constantly having to learn new things. As well as this it enables me to learn about new things which I haven’t had to learn about previously. I also enjoy the program because the difficulty of the work is at a constant pace upwards.

4. How well organised/structured is your programme?

8/10

The program is fairly well structured, overall it is structured well, it is only through the fault of certain college lecturers that some parts of the course can seem unstructured. Besides them the course is laid out extremely well and our progression forwards is always improving and the end goal is very clear. With Siemens doing everything they can to make sure that we are aware.

5. How much support do you receive from your employer?

10/10

My employer gives massive amounts of support with anything that we need, not just relating to the course but also with other more personal support. We are able to concentrate on what we need to knowing that the employer is doing everything they can to make sure that we are comfortable and feeling happy.

6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

7/10

My training provider is currently the college I go to an I receive an adequate amount of support from them, they do there job in making sure that we get through the course and have systems in place to make sure that we have someone to go to if we run into any problems.

7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

8/10

The qualification will help me to perform better in my role because they are educating me on everything that I need for me to safely and successfully complete my role. They ensure that we have an understanding of the job that we are completing and that we get through it comfortably rather than by just getting by.

8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

6/10

There are a few ways for us to integrate further by doing extra curricular activities, however these do not come up often and are not aimed towards the people who are as new in the course as I am. In the future I hope to be able to take part in more of these activities as they come up.

9a. Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?

Yes

9b. Why?

I would recommend Siemens to a friend because we get treated superb within the company and it truly is a great company to work for. As well as this there is a clear progression through the company which Siemens promote and they always want to get the best out of all their employees.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?

I would advise other applying to Siemens to really try to set themselves apart from the others by getting involved as much as possible in all activities. As well as this I would tell them that if they are lucky enough to be able to work for Siemens then they should always aim to achieve as much as possible because it really will help in the long run.
