  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • taking personal and business customer calls with general banking issues and inquiries e.g. ordering new cards for customers, simple queries like balances or answering questions to communicating with other members of staff within the bank like branch staff or solving more complex issues to do with business accounts where I will ring through to different departments in the bank to help resolve customer issues.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely learnt new communication skills and built up a lot more confidence , I am also able to take control of situations and conversations a lot better now and am able to take ownership of situations and resolve them quickly as I am more familiar with bank processes now.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy the job it is slightly repetitive but I suppose that's how you get better at things and I definitely still have more to learn. I am basically just in a job role though as I haven't been given any apprenticeship tasks to complete I do just do the same role as anyone else in the job so I suppose I cant really comment on an apprenticeship programme as such.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I haven't actually received any information about my programme at all im not sure whether that's to do with me transferring to Liverpool from Manchester straight after training but I wasn't given much information about it there. I have never been any specific guidance or tasks and most members of staff have never heard of the apprenticeship I just had to find an email address and chase in up myself as I think they may have lost my details but I just keep getting enrolment emails which I have already enrolled on BPP but when I go to reply to the emails I cant as I don't have access to external emails so I cant even communicate with the team.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • none at all but I think that is due to lack of communication and my transfer from Manchester to Liverpool as when I moved I had to request system access again as something went wrong with the old managers transfer form so only recently i realised i was given a new email so this could be a reason why I've had no correspondence as maybe they had a wrong email for me

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I haven't been given anything to work towards yet as I haven't been contacted or given any information on the apprenticeship at all. that is mainly to do with the problem with my email address when I transferred as I think when I had to request system access at the new workplace I was given a new email which of course if someone had approached me about the apprenticeship they potentially could of been sending the information to the wrong email.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are always nice motivating things going on in the centre, we go out as the team a lot and there is always nice venders and treats arranged to come in every week so it is never just a boring office there are always perks and benefits as well as competitions and motivating things going on to help with morale.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • No


  • 9b. Why?
  • depends really if I thought they would enjoy a customer service role on the phone to customers then yes I would but if I didn't think they would I wouldn't. I have a lovely team I think that is what makes the job enjoyable but in terms of the actual job it is just taking calls not much training at all is provided and its basically all on the job learning so if they are comfortable with on the job learning and basic minimal training then that's fine.
