  • Day to day work in the third year consists of working with qualified maintenance technicians to gain knowledge of the job and gain valuable skills in the industry.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, Year 1 consists of a PEO and NVQ level 2 in engineering, this is a new qualification for me and benefits me greatly as I have machining knowledge and electronics knowledge, gained from this qualification.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The teams to work with are generally nice and friendly, and the company are very helpful to help you learn and prgress. I enjoy the work and learning the job is very interesting.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BMW Group?
  • As an apprentice, we are made to feel welcomed but our learning is down to us. But I feel like i am part of the company and feel useful in my placements.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The years are seperated well, into year 1- hand skills and college, year 2- placements, year 3- placements and HNC, and Year 4- final placement. This is niceley seperated and well organised.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The training advisors are very helpful to organise training and opportunities, they are well communicated with managers which helps us learn the company.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The manager supports our needs, and helps me to learn new things and complete training courses. The support is a good level, and they can push my ability well.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The wage is a good amount for my age, but is not enough to be able to live independantly yet.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are mountain expeditions and external events to attend if needed, and there are good company discounts in most retail shops.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The apprenticeship gives the first footsteps into engineering and is very useful to gain qualifications and gain knowledge towards a very good future job, the money is also very well recieved at this young age in life.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Be interested in engineering, and make sure that you are punctuant and friendly towards the managers and application staff.
