  • We have to respond to emergency gas calls, gas escapes inside and outside of properties. Working their shift patterns

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills, working with tools in general is something that I haven’t done day to day before. This is made me away of procedures around the gas industry. Also made me health and safety aware of what goes on in a environment like the gas industry

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the programme, it gives a good balance of working in a classroom and being taught the necessary procedures, and working out on the job actually physically doing the jobs that you will be carrying out when completed. Also there is support throughout to ensure you get the best possible chance of qualifying

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is constant support from the employer, as our managers aren’t based near us they are always a phone call away. If we had any issues whilst we was on patch we could contact our patch manager or mentor and discuss with them any issues that I might be having

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When being trained from the trainers, we received more than enough support, they ensured that before we carried out any exams or practical assessments we was fully up to daye with output knowledge. If there was any issues that we didn’t understand they always made themselves available to give us more training

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Throughout my training, having the training constantly backing up what we are doing out on patch just gives you the confidence you need to carry out the tasks you are doing on patch. Allows you to lead the jobs from a early date and gets you working in the way that you have been trained to do it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There aren’t many extra curricular activities that you can take part in which is somewhere the company can have room for improvement. The apprenticeship managers have talent us for a curry and we have done things off our own back as a group of apprentices but this isn’t something that the company provides for us in such.
