  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Answering the phone to customers and helping to understand there problems. empathise with them and find the right solution for each customer to help them get back to a healthy financial position whilst also maintaining a professional atmosphere. mostly telephony with coaching sessions and 1 to 1's with my manager from time to time

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt how to empathise and build a relationship with someone purely through vocalisation such as pitch and tone and use of language. I've developed on my ability to remain calm in all situations to be able to get a fair and accurate outcome without sacrificing professionalism properly

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme moderately as it does bring some unique missions which are interactive and unique however as a whole the general day to day of the programme and job is quite repetitive and not exciting. however this is to be expected in this line of work overall its okay

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Not very at all my programme massively lacks organisation, regularly having to message my learning coach to find out how to do something and what next to do to often receive back a very vague answer not because there unhelpful but because there new too and learning there's no clear learning path

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I receive from my employer is moderate its nothing special but they give me my designated time slots without worry and my manager will get involved every chance she gets however most of the course isn't very promoting of outside support being very singular tasks and work

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • being 8 months into my apprenticeship we've only just started talking about my future and what exactly i'm hoping to gain from this apprenticeship which isn't ideal but there is a keen effort to find out and support me where they can. how far that support extends i'm yet to find out.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • my actually qualification and my day to day role and very vaguely linked they don't really compliment each other as much as I expected them too before going into this job. im not saying theres no help between them there is. the apprenticeship helps me learn how to deal with customers

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Overall no not that I know off its quite a reserved workplace decides when it comes to charity work which is quite active but more selling stuff than events for workers to participate in. im currently hosting my own charity event in work which has gained a lot of support

  • 9a. Would you recommend NatWest to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • good atmosphere and good pay for my age whilst many different paths for progression ive seen. also I may have got lucky but I have a very helpful team always on call to give me a hand in a moments notice which actively promotes growth and learning in the workplace.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • The days are long and can be boring but the work is rewarding in the long run and RBS will support you to get to where you want to be within the business and even teach you skills and knowledge useful outside of the business too so overall no reason not to go for it
