  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, my role involves contacting applicants who have applied for a position as a retail security officer. I also work with the area manager to area interviews in my area. We often get walk in so it is part of our job to conduct interviews. We also deal with questions and queries about the role.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed great interpersonal skills as communicating with applicants on a daily basis I also have to communicate with the area manager to ensure that we meet the needs of the area. I have also developed excellent organisation skills as this helps me organise my day and ensure all tasks are complete.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme as I am able to speak with a wide variety of people and develop my peoples skills everyday. I also enjoy the fact that although I am working and learning new skills for future jobs, I am also spending time learning and getting a qualification to go alongside my work experience

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I believe that the structure of the programme is well organised. We are allocated time each week for college as well as our independent study time so that we are able to complete course work. We are also able to schedule in observations and reviews without it effecting our work load and timetable.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employers give us a lot of support by ensuring we are all aware that we are able to speak with them about any concerns we may have regarding the role. They support us by providing us with our independent study time so that we are on track with our course work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider provide a lot of support for us as they are constantly looking at our learners profile and offer any help when needed. We are also able to email our tutor and placement officer at any time when help is needed. They also set us targets for us to meet to ensure that we are on track to finish the course as planned.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has been designed to work along with our actually job roles which helps us to have examples in our coursework.It also motivates me in my job role as it provides me with certain pieces of knowledge I need to know when working and also confidence as I feel I have the correct information to be successfully at my role

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many activity to get involved in at TSS. These are Christmas party, Summer BBQ, weekly Yoga session, Table tennis tournaments and football session. We also arrange fun nights out together which is open for everyone to attend. These are all shown on Sam to ensure that everyone is aware of what events are taking place so they are able to attend

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend this company to friends as I feel that people are able to learn and develop their skills and meet new people. TSS ensure that it is a fun work environment and make sure we all feel motivated. The benefits that are offered within TSS are hard to find in other businesses.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to T.S.S. (Total Security Services)?
  • I would advise that research the different roles that are within the company to ensure they end up doing something they enjoy. Don't give up with the application form. As team work is very important to the company, be friendly and confident so you are able to work in a team
