  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I currently spend 3 days on site and 2 days at college, daily tasks depend on the department which I am in as this changes every 3 months so that I gain a good understanding of the whole business. I am currently working with PSP's and this involves project work in which I am giving a project and can then work on throughout my placement.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've furthered my team work skills and also when working alone too. I have been on training courses which include working in a CDM area safely. Fork lift training and cherry picker training have also been completed. I have completed a level 2 NVQ in engineering and am currently working towards a level 3 BTEC in engineering.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy the programme as the people I work with are full of knowledge and willing to share this with me. I also have plenty to do and am constantly learning new skills.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BMW Group?
  • I feel that I am valued by BMW group as teh tasks which I am given are used and therefore this shows what I am doing has a purpose and I am fully involved in a project when I am set to work on something therefore making it easier for me to learn as much as possible from the experience.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Training is provided when necessary and I currently work in each placement for 3 months and then move to another placement, this helps me to gain a full understanding of how the company works and is therefore very beneficial to me. I have a weekly review with my mentor to ensure tasks which I have been set are being completed and I am having no difficulties, if so, then this is when these problems can be resolved.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I recieve as much support as is necessary and I am able to get in touch with people to help me if necessary either by phone or by email.

  • I recieve an equal amount of support from my training provider as do I from my employer and they are able to resolves issues if any arise quickly and efficiently.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Overall, the salary meets costs very well, living close to the plant is also beneficial to me.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, I recently took part in a company event called mountain challenge which was very enjoyable, and their are many other events which take place also, so there is something for everyone.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall, you are well treated, paid well, and giving the chance to gain qualifications which are extremely beneficial, as well as that you also gain valuable experience too.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Education in the relevant subjects such as physics and maths would be useful as the first year involves a lot of this and so if you have studied these subjects recently it will help you. Although previous experience isn't required, it may give you a head start on others and therefore help you in the future.
