  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I answer the phones and assist customers with any queries or concerns. I also carry out tasks which customers would like completed on their accounts over the phone. These include simple transactions, updating personal information, transfers, card orders etc. I also have to take each customer through our security procedures.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since starting work for Royal Bank of Scotland I have learnt many procedures which are employed when working on a daily basis and dealing with customers. I've learnt about how to handle interactions with customers and multiple best practices. I've also learnt how to use multiple new systems and software.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme as I feel it has already kickstarted a lot of personal development and professional improvement. As you are in contact with customers every day there is constant diversity in daily activities which keeps things interesting. Yet being still in a learning environment allows me to progress each day.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme structure is yet to commence however the support for the role itself is very structured. We are updated daily on our activities and help is constantly available both when on calls and in the classroom.I've yet to compete any work for the apprencticeship as we are yet to meet the programme advisor.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive so much support from employers in my daily working role as they are constantly around to help with queries and clarify any doubt. They are always proactive and monitor and support our work to provide useful and relevant feedback on how we do our work each day which is great.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • So so far I have yet to commence the apprenticeship itself. I have yet to meet an apprenticeship advisor. I have received emails concerning the apprenticeship however little instruction on the course itself. WE are also yet to meet any designated support person who will help and assist with the apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As previously stated I am yet to have any contact with the provider. As I have yet to start the course itself I am yet to see how it will assist me in my role on a daily basis. I am hoping it will enhance my learning and abilities to enable me to perform as best as I can.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are multiple facilities provided by work and constant charity events which are thoroughly promoted. These hwoever do seem to be more for employees who have been with the organisation for longer. This however makes sense as our full focus should currently be on our training and familiarisation o9f the role.

  • Yes

  • It is a reliable and efficient organisation which trains and supports its staff very well and is driven to support and help its customers to maximum potential. We always ai8mn for the best outcome for the customer and are driven to follow up with complex cases to ensure a suitable outcome was met.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • To follow the procedures to best of your abilities and use the support provided. There is so much support and the oprganisation goes out of its way to help its employees in any way that it possibly can. They are driven to help your shifts be as flexible as possible and fit inh with your personal life.
