  • Funeral Director arranging funerals, booking and conducting funerals. Holding the clients hand. Communicating via email and telephone with clients and various external organisations. Ordering orders of service, obituary notices, medical forms, flowers. Sending confirmations to clients and ministers. Pre, day of and post funeral calls. Delivering paperwork, collection and distribution of ashes. Working as a team with arrangers and FSO’s.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learned new skills by doing the job and learning from my colleagues. Worked closely with previous funeral director who taught me everything I needed to know. Existing skills have developed by doing the job on a daily basis.

  • I do not enjoy the programme, I have not learned anything relevant to the job. It doesn’t make sense what so ever. Not easy to follow.

  • I don’t have a clue what it’s all about. I just do what I’m asked if I get time to fit it in during working hours.

  • It’s a very rewarding job


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Co-op?
  • You need to be able to adapt to change on a regular basis. Be aware that you are prepared to do community work and have very little training.
