  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Serving customer at the front of house or sitting on a till position. I do cash transactions like withdrawn and deposits. Paying bills and sending money to people. I can also open current and savings accounts and also do loans, credit cards and overdrafts for customers. I also have to book customers in to see senior personal bankers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt alot about customer service and how to treat customers in the best way possible. Also how to defuse potentially difficult situations. I have learnt alot about the financial system and banking in general. I have also greatly developed my teamwork skills as we all need to support each other

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy learning new skills and growing my knowledge around the banking systems. I love interacting with all of the customers and have made some great friends, both customers and colleagues alike. It's great to see how much I have developed whilst on the program and am very glad I am part of it

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The actually apprenticeship seems well organised and structured however I very early get any time during work to actually complete my coursework. I'm lucky if I get a couple of hours a month and as a result I have fallen behind with my work and this does stress me out

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • In all honesty I don't feel as though I get enough support from my employer as I really don't get any where near enough time to complete my work as I'm needed to do my normal job and as stated I have now fallen behind because of this

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I get alot of support from my training provider however this is just not reciprocated from my employer so no matter how much support I get from my trainer provider I still can not complete my work tongue high standard that I would like to. But they always stay in good contact which is brilliant

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification definetly helps me to perform better in my job role as ibhave learnt alot of skills through my coursework and calls with my training provider. Things that I would not have otherwise learnt if it wasn't for this. My knowledge base is alot bigger than it would have been

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Our branch in Brighton regularly meet up after work and on weekends together. We will either grab some food, go for a drink or go out into town together. We have also got a few activities planned like virtual horse racing which I am looking forward to as it's nice to see everyone outside of work

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • An overall good place to work and support is there when you need it however we always seem to be short staffed which has a large impact on everyone in the branch as we have to work harder than we normally would however o have a great team in branch and we always manage to excell


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NatWest?
  • Be prepared to do alot of your apprenticeship work in your own time at work as the branch will be short staffed so you won't be given much, if any time to complete your work. Other than that it's a great place to work. It gets stressful at times but what job doesn't..
