  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes receiving requests from people across the business. requests can range from buying a new laptop bundle for a new starter, buying all the IT infrastructure kit for a new out base on the other side of the country or diagnosing issues with phones which i will ensure get repaired

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my interpersonal skills mostly. As this is my first job, it has been a big hurdle to overcome working in an office facility where i must communicate often and effectively with multiple people and multiple departments to make sure i can purchase the kit they need without an issue.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed the different day to day tasks as they display different challenges on a very regular basis. Also i have a bit of a passion for IT, so this role fits me very well. Also with my role I have an array of responsibilities that must be completed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • After getting off to a slow start with my apprenticeship provider. I completed the second half of my apprenticeship within 2 months with s lot of hard work by both me and my new assessor. As i've started a new course now, i have not had any issues yet.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • At AO, we have weekly one to ones with our line manager, and around monthly one to ones with our learning and development point of contact. Also if i was to have any issues i could speak to multiple people as i am part of the 6th wave of apprentices

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • At the beginning, we had a few issues with our provider. But after a 'reshuffle' and receiving a new assessor, we had a structure in place after just one session. After this, i completed the rest of my course in very little time with little stress and i could reach out for my assessor at any time

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My course was a level 4 in Business Administration and my course helped me develop skills such as basic Legislation's that fit in with IT, also basic things such as developing & delivering a presentation and creating an effective email. There was also units on databases which helped immensely with my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of extra curricular activities where i work, ranging from Badminton to LAN parties playing games like PUBG & Counter strike (CSgo) . playing I commonly play football on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays most weeks, also we have the chance to go to any additional training, costs covered by work

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • At my age, a lot of my friends would want an apprenticeship and at AO you recieve support as well as a structure that can help you foresee your future in the business. On top of this, AO have had multiple waves of apprentices prior who you can seek assistance from


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AO?
  • Be open minded and flexible, be willing to try new things and go outside your comfort zone because it will be likely that you're being asked to do a certain task to benefit yourself. Also they are there to help you every step along the way, no matter the issue.
