  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I firstly respond to all emails and then continue with work that I have been assigned by my manager. Every day is different, some days I could be doing research, pulling together information into a powerpoint format or even hosting filming agencies for team projects. I also shadow my manager in meetings and Skype calls.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Since I have not been enrolled in the programme for much longer than a month it is hard to comment on how much I enjoy the programme. i have not yet been assigned any apprentice work by my training provider but I have been given a presentation on what to expect. I am sure I will enjoy the balance between working in the role and also completing more coursework based work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • As I have not started my programme yet I cannot say from experience. However, from the documents I have been sent from my training provider, outlining the structure of the course, look to be well structured and clear. I am also yet to receive my induction from my trainer. The course is clearly split into separate modules.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As my apprentice course work has not yet started, I cannot say. However, at this point in time, I am working on many different projects and receiving a very brief instruction.I am expected to know exactly what to do and who to contact, which sometimes isn't helpful as it sets me behind on my work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • although my apprentice coursework hasn't started yet, my training provider seems very friendly and willing to help. he fully explained how the apprenticeship will work and seemed to put a focus on me and my thoughts and happiness. this was refreshing as I felt I was being looked out for and not just being thrown in the deep end with no knowledge of what is happening.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like my qualification will help me to perform better as it will encourage me to do further research on the company I am working in. This will give me a better understanding of the companies history as well as its future and also getting to know more people working within it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • yes, I have already attended a number of conferences online and in the auditorium and also us apprentices like to go out every so often after work for drinks. There is also farewell drinks coming up for an influential VP who is now leaving the company- this will be a great way to get to know people.

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Unilever to a friend as this company has an amazing mantra and focuses on sustainability and the future of not only the company but the world and also the work culture is great. There seem to be many opportunities for growth and chances to work with new people on exciting projects.
