  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • my role contains rotations within a workshop training facility. this conists of nunmerous skills ovee the course of the year. For exmaple, machining, mechanics,electrical,welding. each rotation consists of build up of knowldege and then two assessments . each rotation consists of 4 weeks. also have a BTEC day to learn the theory aspect of engineering.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • i have learnt alot more skills in the rotations (practical side of things). skills or techniques in how to safely mount a ladder or certain ways to test current or a circui within electrical. also learnt techniques in welding and the best way to produce a sufficient welds. in BTEC i have developed more of an understanding of the formulas.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • they are certain aspects i thoroughly enjoy. the trainers provided to us are great. they are well experienced and make me feel comfortable to push myself out of comfort zones. with being of a certain age i dont enjoy the 'college enviroment' as it is unproffesional and i would like to feel iw as actually working in a job and not going to college every day.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • birmingham metropolitan is a very suportive college and its rotations are structured in terms of being assessed. however tutors have been a probem to obtain and sometimes are very leniant. assignments ahve deadlines and you are given assignemtns briefs to overlook and understanding what the assignemnt is asking you to give.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • i recieve alot of support from my emloyer Siemens healthineers. There is many routes to go down and many people to specifically seek support from. i feel very confident approaching my employer with a problem or adressing a problem to them. they offer alot of different events to go to and when fully qualified we work full time on rotation within siemens shop floor which will broaden not only knowledge but support from cell leaders, managers etc.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • i recieve alot of support from my training providers. i feel confident and comfortable to qpprecoaxh them regarding problems within work. we are givne deadlines to complete assignemtns and assessmnets are also done with given time to see if we are capabale or not in that certain rotation or subject.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • they are events to include yourself in such as footabll, yoga sessions, gym sessions, healthy living sessions. there is also charity driven events which youc an take part in. the eat well area also takes part in competitions.there is alot of things you can do in and out of the working enviroment.

  • they are proffesional, they excel in many working enviroments and are innotive in technology globally. Great to work for and with and they value every single employee working for them. importantly they pay well and upport you financially, emotionally and pyshcically. working for siemens i feel comfortable and excited for the future.

  • when applying, be yourself and really look into there history and who they are as a company.they excel in many working enviroments and are innotive in technology globally. Great to work for and with and they value every single employee working for them. importantly they pay well and upport you financially, emotionally and pyshcically. working for siemens i feel comfortable and excited for the future.
