Craft Electrical Apprentice Review

I work in the controls department, this means I will test and program all the modules that help run the gas turbines. I also test and configure the PCs that are used to control the gas turbines. We also repair and fix any of them that get sent back from the customers.

I have. the main new skill I have learnt is fault finding as that is main thing I will be doing. Another helpful skill I have developed and expanded on is how gas turbines work and understanding the controls aspect of them as all of what I test will be to do with controlling the gas turbines

I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends as a lot of the apprentices get on really well with each other and are now really good friends with each other, however, I do not see most of them anymore as we are not at college together anymore.

Siemens them self are very organized with the way they do things which is very good but on the other hand college are really unorganized with the way they do things but they have got me my grade so I don't mind too much even though they are not the best

I don't receive loads of support as I haven't asked for it because I have not needed it but I do firmly believe that if I needed it they will offer it to if I needed it as they have already stated that if I need any support for my dyslexia then I should just ask.

my electrical qualification that I have not finished yet will and has helped me a lot in my place of work, however, my level 2 NVQ has not as that was mostly mechanical and I am not a mechanical apprentice. but it did help me expand my knowledge of engineering overall.

No there hasn't been any extra-curricular activities that I have got involved with. I think this is mainly due to the fact I have been at college for a prolonged period of time there for I didn't know about any activities that will have been raised. but I would get involved if one came up that I was interested in.

As Siemens are a well respected company that live up to there expectations. they pay well and they will have trained me up to become a electrical engineer so even if you didn't like the company they have helped you progress even further in life to end up will a well paid job.

Make sure you know you are going to put the effort in and you are going to enjoy the job, as there is not point going for if you are not going to enjoy it as you will not put 100% effort in a job that you do not like ands there for may not get a job at the end of your 4 years at the company.
