  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to ensure that stock availability, on the Non-food departments, are great for our customers. My role involves different types of routines to ensure we are keeping good stock record levels at all times. Our job requires us to be in the store early in the morning so we don't have a large amount of customer facing time, how ever our job does ensure the customer can purchase what they require from our store.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I would say my use of S. M. A. R. T. targets has been developed. During my working day my time is planned out by myself and the team so using the S. M. A. R. T. method ensures all tasks that need doing can be set and completed in an appropriate time.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am really enjoying learning about new aspects of the company that I may have never considered before. I feel that my learning so far, is helping me to see the company as a bigger picture and how different departments/ staff members can impact each other. Also what kind of impact different things such as social media and behaviors can have on our customer.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel like the online learning portal is a great tool however I feel like sometimes it is not always clear what depth of answer they are looking for. The portal may give you a large box where you feel it may only need a couple of lines to write and other times there is just not enough space to fully explain your answer.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I haven't received a lot unless I have asked for it. Because I manage my own time during the day, I can fit my learning in where I see fit and I have also been able to spend some time on different departments during my learning. My manager had helped me with any questions when I have asked him but I find it difficult to get him to fill in the observation sheets.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • During my visits my trainer is very friendly and will talk me through any parts that I may be unsure of or struggling with. I feel like it would be nice to have more "check ins" between visits. I don't have a contact number for my trainer so I can always drop her a message if I get stuck on any of my work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like my learning so far is helping me to see the bigger picture as to why we do what we do and how our job role fits into the picture. It has helped with my ability to serve the customers better and also communicate with customers and staff more effectively.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We are currently getting ready for Race for life which Tesco have arranged. This year they are not only paying for our sign up costs, they are allowing us to have a friend or family member join with us, which they are also covering the cost for. Tesco also has a strong presence in our local community.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Tesco to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Tesco as a staff member and a customer. I feel like Tesco take care of me as a staff member. There are always perks and benefits provided by Tesco and they give me the flexibility to work around my family. As a shopper I always feel there is great customer service and a wide choice of products when shopping. I also like to take advantage of the variety of ways to shop such as in store, delivery or click and collect.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tesco?
  • I would advise others applying to Tesco to ensure you show that you are a friendly and polite person and also to try to show great communication. Show Tesco that you are customer focused and happy to work in a team to provide our customers the best service that you can provide.
