  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I perform various process engineering tasks such as writing and reviewing Work instructions, product requirement specifications and task specific instructions. I also attend meetings and brainstorms to implement and come up with new ideas. Implementing lean procedures is another part of the job. replying to emails and calls as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt lots and gone through loads of training such as:DDM distinction distinction merit grade for my level 3 btec in composite manufacturing. NVQ still to complete IT level 2 was also taught as part of the course. In house training A3, problem solving training, along with fishbone diagram and 5 whys. Team work training Lock out tag out training Manual handling training 5S training/ ambassador Communications skills training Prisma training Epoxy awareness training First aid training Firm marshall training Pathway plus mentor Work centre 2 day course

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy being given my own projects to run and being treated as a valued part of the team. also like the fact I earn whilst I learn this when a lot of people my age are paying for an education, my company if providing me this and paying me.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The organization of the program has been lacking in my opinion and more structure could of been beneficial. But on the other hand learning all parts of the job with a rotation has been very useful with my overall knowledge. The NVQ markers are very slow at marking the submitted work.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I have received from my employer has been very good in general. Witin the company there are many avenues for support and my managers have been very helpful at times. I would say the attitude within the company as a whole is very supportive and understanding with no issue too big or small.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support from our training provider has been good but slow! the marking of the work has been ridiculously slow. The issue has been raised with the training provider on multiple occasions with no change or reasonable response. This pace of the marking I have felt is slowing me down in achieving my qualification.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It helps me learn technical terms and basics but because what we do is so specialized on site it doesn't really apply that often. Its more about report writing than the technical knowledge. It has helped me learn new things about engineering as a whole though making me more of an asset in the future.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Loads of social activities, sports teams and professional networking events to get involved with from charity runs, to inter company football tournaments. all well supported and fun with lots of people throughout the company attending it is a social and fun range of extra-curricular activities that are open to all.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Siemens to a friend because of my own experience at the company, full of support, good career progression and excellent training. The pension and benefits are good and I would be happy for my friends and family to work at the company. Only down side is the shift work.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
  • The advice I would you give to others applying to Siemens is to be professional but friendly and that health and safety is a main point here. I would also recommend that they read up about the companys values and goals for the future as it is ever growing in many different fields.
