  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My apprenticeship is split into different parts so each month my day to day role can change. My general role for the rest of the year however will be sales. On a day to day basis my job role will be account managing. With this comes taking calls, sorting out their orders, managing their pipeline in the deal tracker, selling specific vendors products if it's a call out day and most importantly when not looking after the accounts i'll be networking. My job role is to grow the accounts to spend more.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my sales skills to new levels. Whatever i thought sales was before I came here was wrong, there is so much more to it. Since starting this apprenticeship i have learned sales as a science instead of just as a skill. I have developed my people skills, and i say this in general because there is so much to it. I learned the personality types, the learning types etc to communicate and work better with people that are totally different to you.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This program has offered so much and put me on a completely different path in life than if I had not taken it. I love everything about this program and thank Tech Data for making it so great. I love the people in the program and especially our manager who goes above and beyond for all of us which makes it that much more enjoyable. Even the job role and the actual work itself is still enjoyable!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is very well structured and i have had clarity through most of this apprenticeship. There have been times were we have had to adapt based on company needs and it has taken a few unexpected turns here and there but we all understand that this is because it's Tech Datas' first apprenticeship program and they are still experimenting and learning what works best for the company and how we best fit in the sales teams.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive and excellent amount of support for our apprentice work but what is even better is the amount of support we receive for our career progression. In such a large company, for the senior board and authoritative figures to care about your career progression it's fantastic, they truly believe that the apprentice program is going to develop key employees in the company. We are offered advice 24/7 about how we can develop our personal brand and sell ourselves in the company.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support when studying for qualifications and thanks to all of this i have been granted around 3 qualifications now, 1 that runs alongside my apprenticeship and 2 that have been offered as part of my job role. My training provider has provided classroom teaching sessions with a professional that provided all the information i could have possibly wanted to go into that exam with confidence and if i didn't understand something when revising i could always send an email or use tools provided to go back over something. Thanks to this i passed with flying colors.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification is the most relevant qualification they could have offered. With this qualification I understand the whole job to and much higher standard. Due to the fact i'm selling technology, understanding what i'm selling to a qualified standard i can communicate with our customers to a much higher standard.
