  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • everyday I spend my time testing new skills I have learnt and learning new skills, i do this on a daily basis by doing PPM' alone as I am trusted to do them alone, working in teams which helps me to develop and learn from others, and shadowing other engineers to see how they work and to take tips and advice off them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I believe that since I have started working here I have developed some useful skills, I have become much better at using general tools and being able to use them efficiently. i have also learnt to work in a team much better and be able to solve problems in a team

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy where I work and I enjoy coming in everyday and working with the people at work as when I complete something it gives me a sense of achievement. I think they make it a fun place to come everyday and they change it up everyday for me

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • well I would say that it is well structured because everyday that I come into work they have something new for me to do, they change everything up so I learn different skills sets, they also like to see me go into the factory a lot to do PPM's alone to test my skills

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I do gain a lot of support from m y employer when I need it, there are many people in the business that I can go to if I am having a problem, these people will try to help me to their best ability and if they personally cannot help they will find someone who can

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • we are having problems with my training provider. As we believe I could possibly be on the wrong course. the qualification provider OAL are in their first year and have not prepared any sample questions as of yet for us to look at and study and complete for our upcoming tests

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • the training provider isn't helping me a lot at work. as many of the things I have been taught I can not use at work. we are not learning a lot about engineering and it feels like we are spending too much time sat down writing rather than doing practical things

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are often some activities set up by workers, that are available to everyone if they want to join. these can range from yoga classes to other activities, they also are linked with the pantomime every year around Christmas and offer tickets to go and watch it in the local area

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • its a large company that is good to work for, they give you many opportunities and like to help you grow not only as a worker but also as a person. its supports many local communities, bakkavor is also very keen to enhance skills and will listen to you if to you if you have a problem


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Bakkavor?
  • Be yourself as Bakkavor will see that and embraces it, they will help you with any problems you may have. and be confident in yourself, there will be times where you don't get things right however that's what Bakkavor are looking for to see how you deal with this
